Underpass Mural, Waterlooville. 50ft x 8ft
This community art project involved many local young people who helped to paint. It shows the history of Waterlooville moving into its present and into its future. The ‘Present and Future’ side of the underpass is vibrant and colourful and takes on many of the ideas expressed by the young people in consultations……
The companion ‘History of Waterlooville’ faces this mural on the other side of the underpass and is depicted in black and white, and based on old photographic records. Something appealed to everyone in this project, both older and younger, and the proof of its success is that a previously frequently heavily vandalised area has now stayed graffitti-free for over a year!
This project was concieved and undertaken by the Art and Soul Traders (www.artful-lodgers.org)
